Small amount of people doing the course in
comparison to other uni’s therefore would have more help available to me by
tutors. When i came on an open the tutors said that coming here would be a good idea as it was small therefore you have more one to one time with tutors and that they would always be available for help in comparison to bigger unis when you could be lucky to see your tutor once a week if that.

Timetabled in everyday for full days rather than
a certain amount of hours spread over one week. I think with the current expense for unis it would be more worth while to make the most of your time in uni rather then have extra time to get the most out of the course as possible.

Specialized Art and Design College, The idea of going somewhere that specializes in Art and designs seems so much more ideal as you know that all the tutor and pupils have the same mind set therefore you can dip into other specialist subjects if you need to with ease.

Location being in Leeds. When deciding as to where i wanted to go all my chosen unis were quite local from where i am from therefore coming to Leeds was my best option as i didn't want to go too far away from where i was from.

Professional standard software and facilities
available to me. I notice that there was a wide range of facilities available to me on the open day which helped me make my decision because it helps your creativity when you have top of the range software available to you.

and explain 5 things that you want to learn during your time on the programme:

Traditional types of Typography and print processes (letterpress etc.) I originally studied art and design at college then specialized in Graphic Design but we never had the facilities to learn Letterpress or had the opportunity to fully go into typography so to be able to do that here would be ideal.

Learning how to work totally independently. I think going to uni you gain skills in becoming independent and a big factor to being independent is learning how to be when at uni therefore i think coming here it will give me the independence to do that.

What to do to improve as a designer. Throughout the course i think this will naturally come to me when i start to learn new skills and new things about design that i don't know now, i don't think its something you learn i think it just happens over the three years where you will experiment with different things.

How to be a professional Graphic Designer. Throughout my time at uni i think we will come into contact with many different types of Graphic designer whether it be visits to the college or out on placements which will help me learn how to be a professional and what it takes to be a Graphic Designer.

To be confident in the work that I have produced. I think the more you do something and the more you learn my confidence will grow in my ability and in the work that i will produce and i think thats a key factor you need when you are a designer.

Hardworking As i have a passion for graphic design and a good work ethic i think this is a beneficial skill to have that will show in my work

Organized Being organized is also a key factor that you need to have as i hate being late for anything i think this will help also as you cant learn to the best of your ability if your constantly late or forgetting to bring important documents

Versatility in any media Coming from studying Art and Design background it has allowed me to learn and have skills in all types of specialisms and medias which will inevitably help me when it comes to designing as it allows me to be versatile and limits restrictions

Time management As i said before you cant learn to the best if your constantly missing lectures or being late

Eager to learn and try out new things Iv always had a passion and learning new thing and in my opinion its never a waste of time if by the end of it you find out that you don't like what you've just learned its just a lesson. I don't believe i am afraid to try out new things.

Essay writing Iv always struggled with essay writing so hopefully coming to uni and getting a new aspect of writing to a higher standard will help me improve.

Computer skills from being at college i have always used macs but never learned the certain software's with complete confidence and ease so i think coming to uni and having the opportunity to attend tutorials and sessions etc will help me learn Photoshop and Illustrator etc will help me improve.

Analysis of my own work/criticism Attending Crits will enable me take criticism well and allow me to improve on what i have done

Working independently Although i can work independently coming to uni will help me increase and improve.

Developing ideas Being in a creative environment with all people who are creative will inevitably help me develop ideas and open a whole new world of different people with different backgrounds and who have a different idea of design will help me develop ideas
