Thursday 16th October I got in touch with a studio called Rounded Edge which is in my hometown of Skipton, they focus on branding which would be ideal for me to visit. I am happy to say I got a reply straight away. The emails are as follows.
The visit to Rounded Edge
This was my first insight into what goes in to working in a studio so I was intrigued and thoroughly interested. The design team is made up of three people all located in a relatively small space. However after speaking to Greg in there meeting room he informed me of how they work and what they do. He said that they do a lot of design for exhibition stands and spaces. However they don't just design them in the studio they produce the stands too. After the chat he showed us around, and they have this huge warehouse like space where a separate team of builders create the designs. They had huge printers, laser cutters and all these different tools to produce what they needed doing. I thought it was really interesting to know that there input doesn't just stop when it gets sent away to be made as they make it themselves. It was a really insightful visit which I felt like i got a lot out off.

Unfortunately I never did hear back from him or his colleagues. I will however still try and pursue this line of enquiry.
Absolute 2- Skipton
Unfortunately I don't have the rest of the email correspondence for Absolute 2.
However they allowed me to go and visit them. They are a small studio made up of a husband and wife. (Cant remember there names) Absolute 2 is a packaging and print design studio there clients consist of Yorkshire Water, Hesketh Farm and Wensleydale cheese etc. They told me that the husband does the majority of design work and the wife would help out if needs be, but also if they hit a busy period then they would use freelance designers to come in and help with the other work. I found this an interesting set up, although they were both friendly and welcoming I think it is a bit too small for me in terms that it is a family business and that isn't something I would be interested in being a part of as I felt like I would be intruding too much. It was a bit too small for my liking although packaging and print is still something that I am interested in.

After Visiting FDB and loving there studio and work, they asked me if I wanted to go back for 2 weeks and do a work placement. This delighted me but because I visited them quite late on in the year, the only dates they could do were dates that were too close to hand in. And due to my priorities were trying to get everything sorted for the deadline of Extended practice I couldn't commit. He then asked if I wanted to start on the 26th May so although It is after the hand in for PPP and extended practice I still couldn't turn down this opportunity. I think this will be the decider on whether I pursue a career in Graphic Design or go down my plan of teaching but I feel like i need to be given the chance for experience to gain some more confidence.
I emailed Golden, however I am still waiting on there reply:
After the visit from WPA Pinfold
I thought the idea of there experience scheme was amazing, and something that I would love to be a part off so I took no time at all to apply, I was sold. However I didn't make the cut which is disappointing however I made it my aim to explore other avenues.
Using Linkedin as a good networking source, I applied for some Jobs. These were quite ambitious however I thought it would be worth the shot.
