OUGD402 Study task 3- What is Graphic Design Part 2

What is Graphic Design- Part 2

  • identify a range examples of Graphic Design appearing in different design contexts and functions.

  • Info Graphics-All images of info graphics were found on:  http://dailyinfographic.com/ 7th February 2013

Below are a range of info graphics all pursuing different functions and displaying different contexts, some are more written and others are more visual.
I chose the image below because although it probably isnt the best graphic design it is a visual colour guide that many designers have shown to use certain colours to portray there brand. Visually theres too much going on however in contrast the use of making it seem like a rainbow effect very interesting.

Below is another fact filled inforgraphic about beer. Due to the complexity and the amount of info i liked the use of colours used within this keepin it neutral and minimalist.
below are four other infographics that are very similar too eachother

Wayfinding: All Images found on http://thevelvetprinciple.com/blog/?p=64 7th February 2013
Wayfinding i believe is another function that are also used in mutliple contexts. The below images are fun and light hearted, making a stereotypical boring sign much more exciting and vibrant. It also gives them a good eye source that makes it worth looking at.

    Publishing and Editorial Design-
There are different ways graphic design can be shown within publishing and editorial. Publishing id say was more book design and editorial was magazine design. Below are some of my favourite designs that i had found.
The use of geometric shapes and different opacities used in the publishing below makes for a very interesting visual. Although the colours look incredible dated due to there saturated colour.
